Tales Around The Tree
Sunday, June 18 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm£3
Fathers Day 18th June 2017. 12.00 noon and 2.30pm
Featuring Bob Mitchell and Lynsey Wright (Scottish Storytellers), Glenesk lass Georgina (fiddle) and Dot Melville (singer)
Bob Mitchell was born and brought up in an Aberdeenshire croft. He tells stories in his native Doric, Lowland Scots and “even when pushed” he says, “the Queen’s English”! “My childhood in the North East feeds into my stories”, he explains. “Who knows I might find I have Glenesk relatives”.
Lynsey Wright is also from the North East. Growing up in a coastal village and absorbing the stories of fisherfolk, Lynsey has been telling stories since she was a child and shares Bob’s enthusiasm for humour in stories.
Storytelling is enjoying a wide revival, for children, adults and young people. We would love the Retreat to be a storytelling hub, as our museum is so rich with tales.
Story tellers are adept at changing their stories to suit their audience and location, as there is such a comfortable flexibility in this very old tradition. We will gather inside or out, depending on the weather. People of all ages are welcome, with under 8’s accompanied.
We ask for a suggested donation of £3 to help cover costs and people can book in advance by phoning 01356 648070 or perhaps to book a table for lunch.
Tales around the Tree with Bob Mitchell and Friends will be a wonderful event of stories and musical interludes which everyone can enjoy, come rain and shine.
